15 sierpnia jest w Polsce Świętem Wojska Polskiego, które przypomina o Cudzie nad Wisła, czyli o Bitwie Warszawskiej, która została uznana za 18. na liście przełomowych bitew w historii świata. Dzięki Wojsku Polskiemu udało się wówczas (w 1920 roku w czasie wojny polsko bolszewickiej) zachować niepodległość Polski i zapobiec rozprzestrzenianiu się rewolucji komunistycznej na Zachód.
W Łodzi po mszy świętej przedstawiciele władz miasta, województwa i państwa, samorządowcy, kombatanci oraz delegacje służb mundurowych złożyli hołd poległym bohaterom walczącym o wolną Polskę. Po odczytaniu Apelu Poległych żołnierze 25 Brygady Kawalerii Powietrznej z Tomaszowa Mazowieckiego oddali honorową salwę.
